THE ULTRA WILL START AT 6AM AT CARRICKFERGUS CASTLE
THE MARATHON WILL START AT BELFAST CASTLE AT 9.00AM
THE MARATHON WILL START AT BELFAST CASTLE AT 9.00AM
The Ultra 52mile event will start at Carrickfergus Castle and will run to Belfast Castle where you will turn around and follow the same route back to the finish at Carrickfergus Castle one of the oldest Castles in Ireland.
Your route will not be an easy one as you start by running up to Knockagh then on to Carnmoney hill then up and over Cavehill making your way down to Belfast Castle where you will turn around and then make your way backup over Cavehill, then on to Carnmoney hill and on again to Knockagh, you will have amazing views across Belfast Lough as you climb and descend all 3 of these hills twice, the route will have a full mix of terrain including, trail, footpaths, road and forest paths, this is a run not to be missed and one not for the faint hearted.
You will be fully tracked on your journey, there will be water stops aid stations along the route and you will have the option of a drop bag at the turnaround.
The Marathon event will start in the grounds of Belfast Castle and will run to Carrickfergus where you will finish beside Carrickfergus Castle one of the oldest Castles in Ireland.
Your route will not be an easy one as you start by running up and over Cavehill, then on to Carnmoney hill and on again to Knockagh, you will have amazing views across Belfast Lough as you climb and descend all 3 of these hills!, the route will have a full mix of terrain including, trail, footpaths, road and forest paths. this is a run not to be missed.
As our ethos is to take running back to nature and the sheer freedom of simply running, you will be self-sufficient throughout the event - you will be required to carry specific mandatory kit which will have everything you need to complete the route, including food and water.
We do not supply bottled water or cups - you must carry your own refillable water bottles.
Given the course and the terrain you will be running on, we have a mandatory kit requirement which includes: a Mobile phone(charged/topped up), waterproof jacket, emergency foil blanket and bag/pack to carry these items.
We will provide water refill only stops along the way exact locations TBC.
We will provide full GPX details of the route closer to the event to those that have entered.
There will be no extra signage or marshals on the course, you will follow the route using a GPS file on your watch or phone and we will provide a tracker so you and your friends can follow your progress.

Both the Ultra and Marathon events will follow the same route over the 3 hills both events will finish in the same location. But will start at different locations.
Registration will be in Carrickfergus on the morning of the all of the events and competitors will be bused to the start of the Marathon in Belfast. BUS WILL LEAVE CARRICKFERGUS AT 8.15AM
