trilogy race information part 2
Full event description:
8TH MAY 2022
Participants will be bused from the finish area (Carrickfergus) to the start area (Belfast Castle). Public toilets are not available at the start area but are available before the bus leaves Carrickfergus.
The Second part of the Castle to Castle Trilogy will start in the grounds of the magnificent Belfast Castle and will make its way up over Cavehill and will follow the trails down to exit through the carpark at Belfast Zoo it will then wind its way across towards the Knockagh Monument and using forest trails and roads it will carry on to finish at Carrickfergus Castle.
The finish is at the majestic Carrickfergus Castle, one of the best preserved medieval structures in Northern Ireland and of significant historical importance.
The concept behind ‘We Run Wild Ni’ is taking running back to nature, running for enjoyment and taking in scenery that is often missed when running, blindly looking for the next race sign or mile marker. To that end, there are no marshals on the course (with the exception of the half-way point) and the environment is not tainted with event signage. Rather, runners follow a detailed road book and return to self-sufficient running, carrying their own supplies. We will ensure runners safety with a GPX file and a water Refill only aid station at half-way, allowing participants to focus the beauty around them.
There are No special additional navigational skills required; the road book is sufficient, as runners of our previous events will testify.
This run has some of the most beautiful landscape views of Northern Ireland and with a start and finish point of two of the most beautiful castles in the locality it is a celebration of Northern Irelands historic value and beauty.
This is the second part of the Castle Trilogy. Each Trilogy event has a bespoke medal and those who run all three events will receive a beautiful fourth medal which interlocks all the medals together. This fourth medal is provided only for those who complete the three trilogy events.
Bus leaves Carrickfergus at 8:00am SHARP and travels to start area (Belfast Castle). Should you wish to make your own way to Belfast Castle you can do so, however no transport will be provided by race organisers back to Belfast Castle.
