Event description:
Starting and finishing in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, the event includes Half and Full Marathon distance. Both courses are predominantly run on trails, lanes, forest paths and rural roads and will give runners spectacular Night views of Belfast Lough.
Our ethos is to take runners back to nature, to ‘Run Wild, Run Free’ and as such both events are self-sufficient, and runners will be provided with a detailed roadbook to self-navigate the course, providing a unique opportunity to challenge yourself in a new way. There will be no signage or marshals on the course, so you need to follow the roadbook. (no compass or additional map reading skills required).
As there is no access to naturally occurring water on the course and as this is a self-sufficient event runners must carry their own food and water. This is a challenging course so runners should exercise their own common sense and carry adequate water and food supplies for the distance. These must be shown at registration.
Time limits of 4 hours for the Half Marathon Run, 6 hours for the Half Marathon Walk and 8 hours for the Full Marathon will be imposed.
All runners will receive a road book (printed on waterproof paper) and a bespoke event specific Medal and post-race refreshments. Medical cover provided by Ambutran medical services
The event meets MCUK and MCI Marathon conditions.
